FAQ

Helpful Information

What is waxing?

A detailed technique to remove all unwanted hair from specific areas. This method of waxing uses hard wax as a form of application. Once removed, the hair will thin out and feel more comfortable.

Does waxing hurt?

As much as we would love to have an answer, it's impossible. We all have different pain tolerance levels. The one thing we can guarantee is a comfortable and patient experience. Even if the pain is present we will ensure minimum discomfort.

How long does the hair have to be?

The size of a grain of rice or a sprinkle usually 1/4-1/2 of an inch. The average person will grow this amount after 10-14 days of the last shaving session. No length of hair is too long! Trimming of the hair will be provided if needed prior to waxing.

How long will my wax last?

This depends on the area, and the amount of visits. A wax guest who follows a monthly wax will spend 3 weeks smooth and revisit after 4 weeks. After following a pattern, the wax specialist will recommend longer wait periods based on your hair results.

What is the difference between Brazilian, Brazilian Bikini Full, and Bikini line?

Brazilian includes as much or as little you want off the front and the butt strip. Brazilian Bikini Full includes as much or as little you want off the front. Bikini Line is only 2 fingers beside your panty line.

How will my hair grow back?

There will be a sparse return of the hair, the hair will also be thinner and weaker making future appointments more comfortable and effective.

Is there an age limit for waxing?

Waxing is welcomed to everyone, we do ask that our guest under 18 be accompanied by a guardian.

How often should I wax?

The recommended starting rate is 4 weeks. Based on the frequency the wax specialist will offer future assessments on what times to follow next.

What medications affect waxing?

There are many medications that affect skin and skin integrity (glycolic acid, lactic acid, benzyl peroxide, salicylic acid, alpha hydroxyl acid, vitamin A, prescribed exfoliating scrubs, antibiotics, hormonal medications, radiation and/or chemotherapy drugs). Please consult with your physician in regards to any medications and how it may affect your waxing experience. Some brand names to be aware of: Adapalene, Avita, Tazorac Avage, Proactiv(e), Differin, Strivectin. Retin A, Renova or Accutane.

Before Waxing

Here are some tips for a successful first time

Tanning

A spray tan will only be removed during a waxing service. We also do not recommend waxing after sun exposure. 48 Hrs are the best for a safe waiting period!

Outfit

Wear the most comfortable clothes you have. A dress or joggers the goal is for your clothes to feel good, this will prevent any further irritation after waxing too.

Cycles

Women often report sensitivity when waxing during their period. While it is possible to preform the service, the best time is 2 weeks after your cycle when all body sensitivity becomes less.

Exfoliating

We recommend that you use your exfoliator (ensure it is mild) several times before your visit. The removal of the dry skin will help your wax experience and ingrown extraction.

Moisture

Please avoid all lotions and oils as well as moisturizers prior to your wax appointment.

For the pain

We recommend taking an ibuprofen or aspirin roughly 30 minutes before your appointment to help maximize your comfort.

After Waxing

Here are some tips for successful results

Sunlight

Make sure to avoid direct sunlight for the first 24 hours following your wax appointment. This will help prevent irritation caused by dry skin.

Water

Avoid any form of hot water. This includes hot tubs, pools, and showers. Instead, try using warm water to avoid overexposing an open pore.

Outfit

Wear the most comfortable clothes you have. A dress or joggers will work. The goal is for your clothes to feel good. This will prevent any friction that can cause further irritation after waxing too.

Moisture

Please avoid heavy lotions and oils as well as moisturizers for the first 24 hours after your wax appointment. Use light and unscented moisturizers instead.

Exfoliation

Exfoliation is important for the skin. However, it is important to wait several days before exfoliating as waxing is a form of exfoliation itself. To avoid damage to open pores, we recommend waiting anywhere from 48 to 72 hours after waxing to exfoliate.

Movement

Excessive sweating can cause irritation, pain to the skin, and clogging of pores. Avoid workouts or other strenuous movements that can cause heavy sweating for the first 24 hours following your wax appointment.
